SHO grade

For non-rotating SHO appointments, it is usually expected to have Part 2 MRCS.

Non-consultant career grade
|
There are currently very limited opening for SAS grades within the specialty, since development of this grade has not been within the strategic planning of the British Association of Plastic Surgeons for future progress. However, this might change in line with some current NHS guidance. Since such posts are likely to be outside any regional plan, guidance for entry should be sought from local clinical directors and/or the regional specialty advisor.

Most SHO posts are part of the regional structures training scheme. However, certain posts remain open for second placements, and from which research posts or definitive SpR posts might be applied for.
