Flexible or part-time training is available for doctors who
are successful in obtaining a training grade post within the
Oxford Deanery and who have a well-founded individual reason
for not training full-time. The most common reason is the
care of young children, but personal ill health or care of
a disabled relative would also be considered valid reasons
for requesting flexible training.
The Oxford flexible training scheme is one of the largest
schemes with up to 100 trainees. Dr Barbara Thornley is the
Associate Director with special responsibility for flexible
training. Anyone wishing to obtain more information should,
in the first instance contact Jan Harris on jharris@oxford-pgmde.co.uk
