The Chiltern Vocational Taining Scheme (VTS) is characterised by:
5 excellent hospital posts - choice of four to suit your career preference. Consultants committed to an educational support and appraisal programme in which your GP trainer takes part. Opportunity for a week in your training practice during your hospital posts. Good working relationships with other departments e.g. public health, elderly care medicine, primary care group teams - giving exciting possibilities for enhanced training modules. A whole day protected educational VTS session resourced by local consultants and primary care workers and including skills development through video work, case discussion and critical appraisal. Our unique residential counselling course at Cumberland Lodge resourced by experienced psychotherapists. A mid-term review process in which registrars themselves participate in helping to shape each others educational development - and learn a lot about educational and practice assessment at the same time! A registrar group of around 10-12, which we feel, is an ideal size for group work and mutual support. A wonderful new Education Centre and library backed up by staff who administer and participate fully in the VTS programme. Educational funded support (to a limited extent!) to support the registrars own personal education plan. High quality training from well-organised and supportive training practices. A lovely area in which to work, where a high proportion of local registrars choose to remain. Schooling excellents.
