General practice training

The Oxford Deanery aims to provide the highest possible standard of vocational training for doctors who wish to pursue a career in general practice, and to give them the best possible start to their general practice career. The Deanery offers: Foundation programme places, which involve a period in general practice approximately 80 Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) places for general practice registrars, ranging from one year registrar placements to three-year SHO and registrar placements opportunities for senior registrar training. places on the GP Returner scheme for GPs requiring refresher training after an absence from general practice We support our trainee doctors fully through their training as SHOs and in their registrar year and hope to solve quickly any problems that may arise.
