New Teachers Course

This is an interprofessional course combining three residential modules and work-based learning. The course leads to a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, accredited by Oxford Brookes University.

It prepares teachers for one-to-one teaching roles in primary care and is particularly suitable for future GP trainers and undergraduate tutors, and for nurse practice tutors involved in mentoring and supervision.

Dates:

2008

Module 1, Culture for Learning 18-20 Feb
Module 2, Theory of Learning, 25-27 June
Module 3, Educational Skills and Practice, 8-10 Oct

Venue: Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Great Park

Cost: Tuition and certificate £450 per module; accommodation £420 per module. Oxford Deanery will cover tuition costs for future GP trainers and undergraduate tutors from within the Oxford Deanery

Course content:
The modules are a combination of small group work and plenary sessions. Each delegate is required to undertake precourse work for each module. Much of the work-based learning will reflect the day to day activities of modern general practice and will include preparation of the practice for teaching.
