Welcome to the Oxford Deanery Department of General Practice.
The Oxford Deanery is the name given to the geographical area of
Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire for the purposes of
postgraduate medical and dental education.
Our purpose is the training and development
of a general practice workforce fit for the future, and the promotion
of generalism and the role of primary care in the local NHS.
General Practice Education Committee
The General Practice Education Committee is
the statutory body to which the GP Director and team report. Its
purpose is the development of strategy, and the ratification of policy
for GP education in the Oxford Deanery. It has responsibility for
governance within the organisation.
The committee membership includes the GP
Director and representatives from the Associate Directors, Course
Organisers, CPD tutors, GP Trainers, GP Registrars, PCTs, LMCs, RCGP,
and lay representation from a practice manager.
General Practice Trainer / Hospital Post Selection Sub-Committee
The purpose of this committee is to select
hospital posts and trainers suitable for training for general practice,
in accordance with Specialist Royal College and RCGP and JCPTGP
approval guidelines. The committee membership includes the GP Director,
Associate Director, RCGP Faculty representative, LMC representative, GP
Trainer representative and GP Registrar representative.
